Thank you. I briefly browsed through the report, and have following comments:

1) Under section X02.5.2, Pedestrian walk speed of 3.5 feet per second wil be contrary to the MUTCD (Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

2) Same with section X02.5.5.3, same issue. Crosswalk for purposes of timing is only up to the middle of last travel lane.

The term "shall" is what makes it conflict with MUTCD, because, it is not a mandatory requirement in MUTCD. Although, MUTCD allows a more generous timing and crosswalks..

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS

The guidelines should also address the following issues:

- pedestrian crossings issues for Round Abouts, or Traffic Circles, and other "traffic calming" road features that will impact accessibility.

-The guidelines should also address:

- intersection designs that has "free-right" turn lanes with a corner island; and

- Guidance to public agencies who has installed accessible ON-STREET parking that currently will not meet the proposed ADA Requirements.

One more question:

Under the "EXCEPTION:" just below section X02.6.1.4,the description says "Where the width of the public pedestrian R/W between the extension of the normal curb and boundary of the public right-of-way is less than 12 feet, a parallel access aisle is not required at parallel parking spaces."

I may not be understanding this section, but it reads like, if the you do not have a 12 foot sidewalk (dist. between normal curb extension and the boundary of public right-of-way), you dont need parallel access aisle? Is this correct, or did the access board committee meant "12 feet of parallel parking lane"?
