1. National Security: FOIA exemption (1) covers records which are specifically authorized under criteria established by an Executive Order to be kept secret in the interest of national defense or foreign policy and are in fact properly classified pursuant to such Executive Order.

2. Internal Rules. FOIA exemption (2) covers records related solely to internal agency personnel rules and practices.

3. Statutory Exemptions. FOIA exemption (3) covers records specifically exempted from disclosure by statute.

4. Confidential Business Information. FOIA exemption (4) covers trade secrets and commercial or financial information obtained from a person that is privileged or confidential.

5. Internal Agency Communications. FOIA exemption (5) covers interagency or intra-agency memoranda or letters which would not be available by law to a private party in litigation with NCUA.

6. Personal Privacy. FOIA exemption (6) covers personnel, medical, and similar files (including financial files) the disclosure of which would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.

7. Law Enforcement Records. FOIA exemption (7) covers records compiled for law enforcement purposes.

8. Reports of Examination. FOIA exemption (8) covers records that are contained in or related to examination, operating, or condition reports prepared by, on behalf of, or for the use of NCUA or any agency responsible for the regulation or supervision of financial institutions.
