The American Diabetes Association
The American Diabetes Association is the nation's leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information and advocacy.  The American Heart Association lists diabetes as one of the six major risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
 
InterAmerican Heart Foundation
The InterAmerican Heart Program was created in September 1992 under the auspices of the World Heart Federation with the support of the American Heart Association, the InterAmerican Society of Cardiology and heart foundations and societies throughout the American continent.

Framingham Heart Disease Epidemiology Study
The federal government's Framingham Heart Study has gone on since 1948. It follows a representative sample of 5,209 adult residents and their offspring in Framingham, Massachusetts. These people have been tracked using standardized biennial cardiovascular examination, daily surveillance of hospital admissions, death information and information from physicians and other sources outside the clinic.

National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) provides leadership for a national program in diseases of the heart, blood vessels, lung, and blood; blood resources; and sleep disorders. Since October 1997, the NHLBI has also had administrative responsibility for the NIH Woman's Health Initiative.

National Institute on Aging
The National Institute on Aging (NIA) was established in 1974 by the Research on Aging Act (PL 93-296) to support biomedical, behavioral and social research.

National Institute on Neurological Disorders and Stroke
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, one of the National Institutes of Health, sponsors and conducts research and research training to learn about the healthy brain and to discover ways to prevent, cure and treat neurological and neuromuscular disorders and stroke.
