Please be advised that my husband and I are
both blind. Audible signals are required for our safety. We both use guide
dogs, but in busy traffic areas and subway platforms, hearing is not as good
and working the dog in large crowds sometime make it impossible to be safe.
Audible signals would keep us safe and would also help in a large noisy area.
With the signal being there we would be able to be more independent and be
able to feel safe like everyone else who use this area.
Safety should be in everyone's mind as being
important. Put yourself in our position. How would you like to be in a
dangerous area and not being able to see miss understand that a danger was
there and step out in front of a car or subway car. If a audible signal was
there this would not happen. It is also important to remember that some
people with visual impairments also have hearing impairments, which make it
impossible to hear properly in a highly busy area. An audible signal would
solve this problem also.
Thanks for your attention to this matter.
