Having looked at recommended guidelines, I think some provisions must be made for existing structures (sidewalks in particular) where the authorities do not contemplate any improvements.

In particular, I am concerned about pedestrian bridges (which are paved) that have no sidewalk leading up to them, just a stretch of unimproved grass or mud leading up to them.

Eastern Avenue is one example, across from a brand new swimming pool and playground; further north where the road also crosses the creek.

Kimberly (a U.S. highway) and Eastern Avenue is the worst intersection in the state and the area has NO pedestrian crossings. I am wondering how ADAAG and ADA will deal with such situations.

Eastern at Kimberly previously has had sewer alterations done but no sidewalks. Kimberly and Eastern recent have had extra turn lanes started and are supposed to have more work done. This includes extending one sidewalk to the street but no sidewalks will go to the other three corners, no crosswalks or Walk lights are planned.

There were complaints about this at the prior public hearing. It is both a highly commercialize and residential (apartment houses) area.

The project is being handled by the state and city with federal funding. It is not handicapped accessible.

It is City policy that sidewalks are not necessary if the land is not improved, so there are many sidewalks which do not go to the street or even across an unimproved lot. Will that be affected if the recommendations are approved
