As an individual who has been losing vision over three decades, I can honestly attest to the need for safe and reasonable pedestrian crossings. For me personally, this issue was an annoyance but with care and great caution, I was able to cross the intersections in my neighborhood. With the additional loss of vision and the seemingly increased speed of vehicular traffic, I now find myself avoiding these areas. As a taxpayer and citizen of my community, I am offended that my rights to walk safely through these intersections is not given the same significance as those traveling in motor vehicles. It is my sincere hope that the Access Board is able to help level the playing field so that the needs of pedestrians are considered as well as

those in motor vehicles.
