I urgently ask the Access Board to approve the PROAC report on detectable warnings and accessible traffic signals. The one exception I would make is to object to the use of "wait" with the flashing red signal. A tonal signal would be much safer for a blind person in the midst of a street crossing.

I am blind myself, and I know the many times I would have been safer with a detectable warning and an accessible traffic signal.

The community of blind people is anxiously looking forward to the upgrade in standards that the approval of the PROAC report will bring about.
