C.    PLANT INDUSTRY DIVISION

Land Animals             

1.   Request to 1) Allow the Importation under Permit of One Male and Five Female Barbary Sheep, or Aoudad, (Ammotragus lervia) by Three Ring Ranch Exotic Animal Sanctuary, Inc, (Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) for Educational Purposes in an Animal Sanctuary; and 2) Establish Permit Conditions for the Importation of Barbary Sheep for Educational Purposes at Three Ring Ranch Exotic Animal Sanctuary, Inc.

Action:  Disapproved

Disposition:  Applicant was notified of disapproval by the Board.

Aquatic Animals         

2.      Request for (1) Preliminary Review of the Unlisted Harlequin Shrimp (Hymenocera picta) for Future Placement on the List of Restricted Animals (Part A) for Import for Scientific Research by Oceanic Institute [“OI”]; (2) Establish Permit Conditions for the Importation of the Unlisted Harlequin Shrimp for Scientific Research by OI; (3) Allow the Importation of the Unlisted Harlequin Shrimp Under Special Permit for Scientific Research by OI; and (4) Establish Permit Conditions for the Importation of the Unlisted Harlequin Shrimp Under Special Permit for Scientific Research by OI

      Action:  Approved

                  Disposition:  Permit pending site inspection and approval.

3.      Update on the Status of Plant Pest Control Branch Projects for Biological Control of Fireweed  (Senecio madagascariensis),  Gorse (Ulex europaeus), and Erythrina gall wasp (Quadrasticus erythrinae).
