The unexpected death of an Oregon State Penitentiary inmate occurred Monday December 3, 2007 in the Special Management Unit.
Efforts to resuscitate the inmate by OSP medical staff were unsuccessful. Emergency Medical Services were called and they were unable to stabilize the inmate. He was pronounced dead at 11:02 a.m.
The Oregon State Police have been notified and are investigating the incident. Any further questions regarding this incident should be forwarded to the Marion County District Attorney's office.
The identification of the inmate is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
