Inmate Commits Suicide at Snake River Correctional Institution
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, Inmate Nathan Bashaw was found asphyxiated alone in his cell in the Special Management Unit at Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario.
Prison security and medical staff attempted to resuscitate Inmate Bashaw, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Inmate Bashaw, 21, was serving a sentence for Robbery I Attempt in Multnomah County. He was sent to prison in August 2004. He had a projected release date of April 1, 2008.
As with all deaths of state prisoners, Oregon Sate Police are investigating.
