Inmate Walks Away from Work Crew

A minimum-custody inmate today walked away from a 10--man work crew in Portland. The crew from Columbia River Correctional Institution was moving furniture at SW 14th and Alder when Terry Glen Johnson, 32, was noted missing just before 2 p.m.

Johnson is a white male, 5'10" tall, and weighs 190 lbs. He has a goatee, thinning brown hair and hazel eyes, but had recently shaved his head and is totally bald. He was wearing denim jeans, a blue t-shirt and a blue sweat shirt, all with "INMATE" prominently stenciled in orange. Additionally he was wearing black work boots and a white thermal shirt. His arms are heavily tattoed.

Johnson was serving 34 months on Lane County convictions for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felon in possession of a firearm. Additionally he has a history of drug possession charges. He was admitted to prison in November 2005 and was not scheduled to be released until December 2007.

As with all fugitives, he should be considered dangerous and not be approached. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should contact the Oregon State Police at 1-800-452-7888, the non-emergency number of their local police department, or the Oregon Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit at 503-945-9030.
