An inmate at Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario died Sunday night, September 24, 2006, of an apparent suicide.

Uribey Camacho Duque, 24, was found hanging in his single cell in the prison's Disciplinary Segregation Unit. He was discovered by correctional staff at 7:50 p.m. MDT. Staff immediately began resuscitation efforts, which were unsuccessful.

Duque was admitted to prison on November 2, 2004 from Multnomah County. He was convicted of attempted first-degree assault and second-degree assault. He had a projected release date in June 2007.

As with all deaths of state prisoners, the Oregon State Police are investigating.

Snake River Correctional Institution has a capacity of 3,000 inmates. It is the state's largest prison and accommodates inmates of all custody levels.
