DOC INMATE WALKS AWAY FROM STATE HOSPITAL WORK CREW

At approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, Inmate Wallace Simpson, 51, walked away from a minimum-custody work crew at Oregon State Hospital in Salem.
 
Inmate Simpson is an African-American male, 6'5" tall, and weighs 200 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing Prison Blues jeans with the word "inmate" stenciled in orange, and a blue parka.
 
Inmate Simpson was admitted to prison in December 2004 from Multnomah County for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Burglary II, Assaulting an Officer, and Theft I. His projected release date is May 2008.
 
The Oregon State Police, Salem Police and Marion County Sheriff's Office have been notified.
 
As with all fugitives, he should be considered dangerous and not be approached. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should contact the non-emergency number of their local police department or the Oregon Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit at 503-945-9030.
