TRCI Staff Members Earn Statewide Recognition

The Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) recently held its annual statewide awards ceremony in Salem. Recognition was given to staff who had been selected as award recipients for 2004-2005.

Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI) had several staff honored with awards.

TRCI Sergeant Jason Jorgensen was selected and honored as the Department of Corrections “Correctional Officer of the Year.”  Sgt. Jorgensen was nominated for this award along with ten other officers from prisons statewide.

Sergeant Jorgensen is described by his peers as one of TRCI’s best resources.  “Not only is he very knowledgeable, but he also has a high level of integrity, holding inmates accountable as well as his fellow staff,” said TRCI Superintendent Guy Hall. Sergeant Jorgensen is known for putting staff needs over his own, doing what he says he will do, and treating staff and inmates with respect.”

Not only is Sergeant Jorgensen a member of the TRCI TERT (Tactical Emergency Response Team), he is also the youth minister for his church.

Sergeant Joe Arguello, East Side Honor Guard Squad Leader, was given the “Director’s Award” for his outstanding service.  The Honor Guard represents the DOC at memorial services, in parades, posting the colors at special ceremonies, and other public functions.

Prior to Sergeant Arguello’s employment at TRCI in 1999, he worked for the Umatilla County Sheriff’s office in Pendleton.  He has been Squad Leader of the DOC’s East Side Honor Guard team since 2001.
