Inmate attacks officer at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution
At 8:15 this morning, an inmate at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) in Pendleton stabbed a correctional officer with a metal object. The officer was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital and he was treated and released.
The unprovoked attack occurred in a housing unit on the east side of the 1,600-bed men’s medium-security facility.
The weapon used has been recovered, and the attacker confined in disciplinary segregation. Oregon State Police are on-site to investigate.
The prison has been placed on lockdown and visiting is cancelled today. The lockdown status will be assessed throughout the day and modified as needed.
