Warner Creek Correctional Facility management team taking shape

Not only are the buildings that make up Warner Creek Correctional Facility (WCCF) taking shape, but Superintendent Chuck Seeley is concurrently building its management team and shaping its corporate culture.

Seeley announced last week that Robert Wing has been appointed security manager for the new minimum custody facility in Lakeview, scheduled to open in September. Security managers are responsible for the safety of the public, the prison staff, and the inmates.

"I look forward to the challenges of opening a new prison and building the WCCF team," he said. "It is a great opportunity to implement the Oregon Accountability Model from the ground up."

The Oregon Accountability Model is both a philosophy and an action plan embraced by the Department of Corrections to hold inmates accountable for their actions and reduce the risk that they will continue criminal behavior, both while incarcerated and following release.

Wing has worked for the Department of Corrections for nearly 15 years, first at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution in Pendleton and then at Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI) in Umatilla. During TRCI's start-up, he was a sergeant and he has steadily moved up the ranks to captain. He served as tactical emergency squad leader, the security threat group lieutenant, and the emergency preparedness captain.

Wing joined the Lakeview community on March 1.
