The Oregon Department of Corrections and the Oregon State Police are investigating allegations of misconduct at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville.

The allegations involve sexual contact between staff and inmates. They were brought forward last week and an investigation was immediately launched. To date, one employee resigned and a second was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

“The department’s Code of Conduct directly addresses relationships between or among inmates and staff,” said Corrections Director Max Williams. “It says, ‘Employees shall not become emotionally, romantically, or sexually involved with inmates/offenders…’ The Code of Conduct also specifically stipulates that, ‘Failure by employees to follow this policy may result in appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.’

“It is early in the process,” Director Williams explained. “We are cooperating fully with the State Police to discover the facts.”

Coffee Creek Correctional Facility comprises a women´s multi-security prison and co-gender intake center. It has 1,360 beds.

The investigation of the allegations is ongoing, so additional details are not available. More information will be available when the investigation is complete.
