On September 10, New York Governor David Paterson announced a new task force created to improve the state’s juvenile justice system. The Task Force on Transforming Juvenile Justice will convene for one year to focus on improving reentry outcomes, developing community-based alternatives to placement, and redefining residential care for youth who are placed in state custody. Vera’s Center on Youth Justice has been asked to guide the daily operations of the task force and provide technical assistance.
Vera established an office in Washington D.C., to bring its unique expertise more directly to bear on important national policy debates related to the administration of justice.
