The Framework Program for Global Health(http://www.fic.nih.gov/programs/training_grants/framework/index.htm)
A new initiative to build global health research capacity in the United States and in low- and middle-income countries by supporting the development of innovative, multidisciplinary global health programs
Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP) Outreach
EHP (http://www.ehponline.org/), published by the NIEHS, is the leading journal in environmental health sciences worldwide. Much of EHP's content is focused on global environmental health, and the journal has several programs aimed at building science and public health capacity in developing countries.
EHP maintains an Open Access policy of providing all content online for free to anyone in the world.
EHP shares content in the following global information programs:
eGranary Digital Library(http://www.who.int/ipcs/en/)
The eGranary Digital Library provides millions of digital educational resources to institutions lacking adequate Internet access. Through a process of garnering permissions, copying Web sites, and delivering them to intranet Web servers INSIDE our partner institutions in developing countries, we deliver millions of multimedia documents that can be instantly accessed by patrons over their local area networks at no cost.
Online Access to Research in the Environment(http://www.oaresciences.org/en/)
Online Access to Research in the Environment (OARE), an international public-private consortium coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Yale University, and leading science and technology publishers(http://oare.oaresciences.org/content/en/partners.php) , enables developing countries to gain access to one of the world's largest collections of environmental science research.
EHP Chinese Edition
Since 2001, EHP has published a quarterly Chinese edition(http://www.ehponline.org/cehp/) comprising translated news articles, editorials, and selected research articles for distribution in print and online in China for free. This activity is done in partnership with the Shanghai CDC.
African Journals Partnership EHP is a partner with the Fogarty International Center and the National Library of Medicine in the African Journals Partnership(http://www.ehponline.org/docs/2004/112-15/editorial.html), a program to build capacity in science journals in African countries. As part of its involvement, EHP partners with and hosts the online website of the journal Mali Medical(http://www.ehponline.org/malimed/).
Ciencia y Trabajo
Since 2003, EHP has collaborated in a partnership with the Chilean science journal Ciencia y Trabajo(http://www.cienciaytrabajo.cl/) to provide expertise and supplemental environmental health content for a Spanish-speaking readership.
Meetings and Conference Support
As part of its mission to advance the scientific enterprise, the NIEHS participates in and
co-sponsors a variety of scientific and policy-related meetings each year that are relevant to global environmental health.
