Governor Lingle believes strongly that state government should be open and accessible to the people of Hawai‘i, and the Constituent Services office works to meet that mandate in a professional, courteous and prompt manner. The purpose of Constituent Services is to provide information about state government and connect citizens to the state departments that can best meet their needs.

Message Requests

The Governor’s Office offers recognition for significant accomplishments and milestones. Due to the high volume of requests received daily, we kindly ask that all requests be submitted a minimum of four weeks prior to its due date. The Governor’s Office reserves the right to accept or decline any request, regardless of whether it was accommodated in previous years. Types of messages include:

Proclamation
The purpose of issuing a proclamation is to designate a day, week or month in recognition of an event, observance, individual or organization that is relevant and meaningful to the people of the State of Hawai‘i. 

Commendation
A commendation is a message of appreciation or congratulations issued to an individual or organization that has made noteworthy contributions to the people of Hawai‘i.

Messages
Messages are brief greetings from the Governor and Lieutenant Governor that are issued when they are unable to attend an event.

Other
Examples of other message requests include retirements, anniversaries, condolences, Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts awards.
