There will be an EFF pre-conference session at COABE, in Portland, Oregon.
This session is scheduled from 9 A.M. through 4 P.M. on Saturday, April
25th (with a break for lunch). Following is a description of the session:

Equipped for the Future: New Tools for Teachers
Equipped for the Future (EFF) is a national standards-based initiative,
sponsored by the National Institute for Literacy, to reform the adult
literacy system so that it better prepares adults for what they need to
know and be able to do in today's world. This pre-conference session,
facilitated by experienced EFF staff, will orient participants to the EFF
teaching and learning cycle and the tools that teachers and students can
use as they implement standards-based teaching. Participants will work with
varied classroom examples and discuss ways that EFF supports and
contributes to effective teaching.
Limit: 50 participants
Time: Full day
