The Oregon Department of Corrections offers many career opportunities for people with a variety of job skills, abilities and education. That´s because a prison, such as TRCI, is comparable to a city; most jobs that you would find in a community can be found at TRCI.
Some of these jobs include 19 people in the physical plant maintenance (electricians, plumbers, painters and carpenters), 16 food service coordinators who supervise inmates who prepare meals, two chaplains, a librarian, a volunteer coordinator, and many, many more professions.We also have administrators, hearing officers, counselors, workforce coordinators, support staff, computer operators, and business services assistants.
The greatest number of career opportunities occur in security. Security is responsible for the direct control and supervision of inmates. Security staff includes correctional officers (entry-level) who have many opportunities to rise through the ranks in our semi-military hierarchy.
