Interoperable Communications User’s Handbook

In Fiscal Years 2000 and 2001, the Office of Grants & Training (G&T) provided multiple interoperable communication devices to state and local agencies under a pilot program. This interoperable communications system, called the ACU/TRP-1000, is a communications device for those who must establish a link with other local, state, and Federal agencies at the scene of a multi-agency response incident. This system provides radio interoperability during incidents or events requiring communications between diverse organizations all using different radios and/or different frequencies. The Developing Multi-Agency Interoperability Communications Systems: User’s Handbook provides a lessons learned tool for ACU/TRP-1000 users throughout the United States. The handbook is intended to serve as a reference for the pilot sites selected under this communications project. This handbook can be downloaded and printed from this site area as a reference. For more information on this and other G&T resources, please call the G&T helpdesk at 800-368-6498.
