Overview

The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, demonstrated that response to an incident of terrorism can rapidly deplete local supplies and equipment. In order to further enhance the capability of state and local units of government to prevent, deter, respond to, and recover from incidents of terrorism involving the use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) weapons and cyber attacks, G&T offers a suite of equipment programs that support G&T grant funding. The G&T equipment programs provide a means of direct support to first responders to enable them to acquire additional, specialized equipment, as well as training and technical assistance on those necessary equipment items. G&T equipment programs allow state and local units of governments to meet the challenges presented by terrorist organizations and to strengthen the capabilities of first responders to safely and effectively prepare for and respond to a terrorist incident.
