OSHA, PENNSYLVANIA CHAMBER OF BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY FORM ALLIANCE TO PROTECT WORKERS

Harrisburg, Pa. -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently signed an Alliance with the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry (PCBI) that will provide members with information to help protect the safety and health of their employees.

PCBI is the second largest chamber in the United States and has over 10,000 members; eighty-two percent are designated as small employers.

OSHA safety and health Alliances are part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of workers through cooperative partnerships with trade associations, labor organizations and employers.

"We will offer information on the top 25 items that companies are frequently cited for under OSHA's General Industry standards," said Bob Fink, area director of the Harrisburg OSHA office. "We will also develop training and education programs for issues relevant to PCBI members."

The Alliance also calls for OSHA and PCBI to work together to disseminate information through websites, speakers, appearances at statewide safety conferences and local meetings and exhibits displays.

Since 2001, the Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has created more than 160 alliances with organizations committed to fostering safety and health in the workplace. OSHA is dedicated to saving lives, preventing injuries and illnesses and protecting the health and safety of American workers. For more information, visit www.osha.gov.
