When Hurricane Ivan blasted through Pensacola, Florida, it cut apart a bridge on the heavily traveled Interstate 10. The gap in the bridge is visible in this ASTER image, acquired on September 21, 2004.
The SeaWiFS sensor flying aboard the OrbView-2 satellite captured this true-color image of Hurricane Ivan on September 14, 2004 at 18:00 UTC (2:00 PM EDT). This large view of the eastern half of the country shows a cold front northwest of Lake Michigan. The southeast progression of this front will more than likely steer Ivan up and along the Appalachian Mountains after landfall.
