Cesar B. Cabrera
Ambassador, Republic of Mauritius and Republic of Seychelles
Term of Appointment: 10/02/2006 to present

Ambassador Cabrera was nominated by President George W. Bush on June 6, 2006, and the Senate confirmed him on September 13, 2006. He was sworn in by Under Secretary for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Mauritius and the Republic of Seychelles on October 2, 2006. He presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, on Monday, October 23, 2006.

Mr. Cabrera has been a leader in the development and construction industries in Puerto Rico for over 35 years. He was the president of three development companies and has organized, executed and supervised construction development projects valued at over $300 million. He is a leader in the finance, government and banking fields and was twice named Home Builder Multifamily Project of the Year. He has served as a board member and as treasurer of the Home Builders Puerto Rico chapter.

Mr. Cabrera has also had an active political career. From 1992 to 2004, he served as Executive Director of the Republican Party of Puerto Rico and led the Puerto Rico delegation to the Republican National Convention in 2000. In 2004, he was a member of the U.S. Presidential Delegation at the inauguration of His Excellency Martin Torrijos, President of the Republic of Panama. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation.

Mr. Cabrera was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez campus with a major in Civil Engineering.
