Mission Statement
To foster a respected and recognized volunteer community of appropriate size and quality that is capable of serving the rehabilitative, religious/spiritual, educational, and other pro-social activity needs of individuals who are incarcerated or undergoing re-entry from incarceration back to the community and provide support to the staff and mission of the department.

Qualification/Process
- Usually 18 years of age or older
- Good role model
- Want to make a difference
- Interview with department staff
- Complete a training program
- Fill out an application
- Pass a background check
- Attend a two hour facility orientation

The Economic Value of our Volunteers (January 1, 2006)
Approximately 2,000 volunteers:
- Donated approximately 318, 300 hours
- Equivalent to 150 full time employees
- Staff value of $15,300,000
- $1,896,000 - Independent Sector estimates the value of volunteer hours at $17.75 per hour, per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
