Policy Coordination

Overview

In order to formulate and implement development policy, USAID coordinates with entities across the United States government and the international community.

Presidential Initiatives

The National Security Strategy of the United States identifies international development, along with defense and diplomacy, as one of three pillars of U.S. national security. In recognition of this significant responsibility, President George W. Bush has announced several international development initiatives that are implemented, in whole or in part, by USAID.
