    Resources for Tourism Development
Tourism and craft industries can help drive regional and local economic growth in Appalachia, a region with a rich heritage and abundant natural assets. Appalachian communities can leverage the economic potential of their cultural and natural resources by assessing local strengths and opportunities and preparing a comprehensive plan for action.

ARC has identified a number of key trends in the tourism industry to help community leaders in their development efforts, including an increase in travel to rural destinations and an emphasis on sustainable tourism that supports the local community.

To help support the development of tourism and craft in the Region, ARC has convened an advisory group composed of tourism and craft experts from each of the Region's 13 states. The ARC Tourism Council went through a strategic planning process to determine how individual states can benefit through multi-state collaborations.
