GOVERNOR'S MAUI COMMUNITY ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING ON SEPT. 17 TO FOCUS ON MAUI'S VISITOR INDUSTRY

WAILUKU – The Governor’s Maui Community Advisory Council will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 5:00 p.m. at the Cameron Center Auditorium, located at 95 Mahalani Street in Wailuku. The public is invited to attend.

This month’s meeting will feature State Tourism Liaison Marsha Wienert who will discuss the challenges facing Hawai‘i’s visitor industry and the impact on Maui’s economy.  A question-and-answer period will follow as time permits.

Governor Linda Lingle created community advisory councils to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government.  The Maui Community Advisory Council holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues on Maui, public priorities, and recommendations for state boards and commissions.

The members of the Governor’s Maui Community Advisory Council are:  Madge Schaefer (chair), Kalei Sombelon (vice chair), Kathryn Ghean, John Henry, Barbara-Ann Keller, Carl Lindquist, Lori Ululani Sablas, Shan Steinmark and Gail K. Takeuchi.
