Patient Safety and Clinical Pharmacy Services Collaborative Meeting,
October 28-29

HRSA will sponsor a meeting of the Patient Safety and Clinical Pharmacy Services Collaborative (PSPC) in Rockville, Md. The meeting will bring together members of the PSPC faculty, who are training health care providers and pharmacists on leading practices to improve patient safety, clinical pharmacy services and health outcomes. The PSPC Leadership Coordinating Council, which oversees activities of the collaborative, will also meet during the meeting.

National Partnership for Comprehensive Cancer Control in Primary Health Care Meeting, October 29-31

HRSA Deputy Associate Administrator for Primary Health Care Donald Weaver will participate in this national partnership meeting in Chicago. The meeting will aim to improve health outcomes by exploring ways to coordinate cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment at the local, state, regional and national levels.

HRSA Orientation of Iraqi-Physician Partnership Program Participants,
October 29-30

HRSA staff will host an orientation of the six Iraqi-Physician Partnership Program participants assigned to the agency. After a Department orientation, participants will travel in groups of two to three health center sites for 2 ½ weeks of community-based training in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Snow Hill, N.C.; and Grand Rapids, Mich.

National Health Service Corps (NHSC) New Scholar Orientation Conference, November 6-8

HRSA will hold its NHSC New Scholar Orientation, “Pathway to a New Beginning,” at the in Norfolk, Va., to train new NHSC scholarship recipients and help them meet program requirements.

November 6-7

HRSA's HIV/AIDS Bureau will hold a meeting of grantees participating in the SPNS “Oral Health Initiative” in Washington, D.C.

HRSA's HIV/AIDS Bureau will hold a meeting of grantees under the SPNS “Information Technology Networks of Care Initiative” in Washington, D.C.

Advisory Committee on Organ Transplantation (ACOT), November 13-14

The 14th meeting of the ACOT, which receives staff support from HRSA, will be held in Rockville, Md. Discussion topics will include quality improvement in living kidney donations in New York State; quality assessment; Organ Procurement Transplant Network living donor follow-up; and reimbursement and the changing nature of the donor pool. The meeting will be open to the public.

National Association of Community Health Centers Primary Care Association Meeting, November 17-19

HRSA Associate Administrator for Primary Health Care Jim Macrae will address state and regional primary care association grantees at this HRSA-supported conference in Delray Beach, Fla. Macrae's remarks will cover providing training and technical assistance to health center grantees in their own states to help improve the health of underserved communities and populations.

Midwest Stream Farmworker Health Forum, November 19-21

The 18th Annual Midwest Stream Farmworker Health Forum, supported by HRSA and the National Center for Farmworker Health, will be held in New Orleans, La., to focus on training and technical assistance for managers and staff of migrant health programs.

Rural Health Grants Technical Assistance Workshop, November 20

HRSA's Office of Rural Health Policy will hold a Grants Technical Assistance Workshop in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., to provide information on funding opportunities and resources available to rural communities.

16th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Heritable Disorders in Newborns and Children (ACHDNC), November 24

The meeting will include presentations and continued discussions on the nomination/evaluation process for newborn screening candidate conditions for review by the ACHDNC for inclusion on the uniform newborn screening panel.

National Advisory Council on the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), December 4-6

The council, which receives staff support from HRSA's Bureau of Clinician Recruitment and Service, will meet in Rockville, Md., to discuss other organizations' health workforce recruitment efforts; workforce needs of community health centers; and updates on the NHSC and on health professional shortage area designations. Five new members will join the council and participate in an orientation and ethics training.
