Job Code and Minimum Wage Requirements

POSITIONS COVERED UNDER THE SERVICE CONTACT ACT

Please use the DOL job code for Contract Worker Requests when the position is covered under the Service Contract Act.

Positions under the Service Contract Act include but not limited to:

Department of Labor (DOL) job codes are 5-character numeric numbers assigned by the Department of Labor for positions which are covered under the Service Contract Act.


THE MINIMUM WAGE DETERMINATION

Positions covered under the Service Contract Act are subject to the DOL Minimum Wage Determination. DOL Wage Determinations are subject to change and should be validated for each request.

Use the LBNL Wage Determination to assure that you are offering a rate which meets the DOL minimum wage guideline. The current Wage Determination may be found at http://www.lbl.gov/Workplace/HumanResources/clabor/Wage_Determinations.pdf.

POSITIONS NOT UNDER THE SERVICE CONTRACT ACT

Work assignments that are exempt/professional in duties are not covered by the Service Contract Act and there is no minimum hourly wage requirement.

Contract workers in exempt/professional assignments should be given the appropriate job code listed below. Laboratory employee job codes should not be used.

24010 Contract scientist/engineer
24020 Contract admin/management professionals
24030 Contract Engineering Professionals
24040 Contract Facilities professionals
24050 Contract EH&S professionals
24060 Contract computing professionals
24070 Contract technical professionals (such as research associates and scientific/engineering associates (LBNL job codes in the N series)
