Questions and Answers (08/15/2006)

Q1:
How does the NCCS plan to enforce an interactive use policy of dirac?

Answer:
At the current time that is still being determined. Currently, work which is drastically impairing the use of the system, or preventing other users from gaining access to the system will be removed.

Q2:
Are there limitations which can be placed on interactive users on dirac?

Answer:
There are limitations to number of processes, CPU time and memory in use which can be placed on users, however the NCCS wants to carefully evaluate the impact of these limitations prior to implementation.

Q3:
There seems to be something at NAS that is essentially an "interactive CPU set", would the NCCS consider doing this here?

Answer:
We will speak to NAS about the use and implementation details of their solution and let the user community know if a decision is made.

Q4:
Will a DU command on a filesystem uncover corrupt files?

Answer:
Not necessary, since the DU reports only on files which are currently online, and in this particular case will give a return a listing which has a non-zero length, thus not identifying suspect files.

Q6:
Is there a possibility of getting extra disk space on datastage?

Answer:
Any group which requires additional space just needs to contact the User Services Group support@nccs.nasa.govor 301-286-9120) with their requirements so we can evaluate whether we can honor the request.
