Concrete mixer joins Roads lineup

Over the past two years, King County Road Services Division’s swaploader trucks have gotten a real workout. These versatile vehicles feature multi-use interchangeable bodies on a common chassis. In just a few minutes, the equipment on the truck can be switched out to be a tanker, dumper, de-icer or sander depending on the need at hand.

The swaploader lineup recently got a boost with the addition of a three-yard concrete mixer. This allows Roads crews to handle small concrete jobs with their own truck. They can pick up the concrete straight from the plant – saving time and money.

Like many of the best ideas in the Roads Division, the addition of the concrete swaploader came from an employee suggestion.

New airport gateway ready to go

The latest improvement project at King County International Airport at Boeing Field has created more plane parking and better passenger facilities.

Work has just been completed on remodeling to Gate 5 in the passenger terminal. The old South Arrivals Building was demolished to make room for 15,000 square feet of fresh pavement for more aircraft parking. The new area can handle large charter aircraft a plane as big as a 747.

With improved lighting and an 8-foot door, even the tallest NBA players ought to find flights into Boeing Field a great experience.

Board a bus to Huskyville

The University of Washington football team is back at home this Saturday with a 4:30 p.m. game against the Oregon Ducks.

Riding the bus to Husky Stadium is a convenient and free alternative to dealing with the hassles of driving and parking. The Huskies will be offering free Metro service to the stadium. In addition to regular bus service to and from Montlake campus, there is also special shuttle service between the stadium and eight park-and-ride lots: Shoreline; Northgate Transit Center; Houghton; Kingsgate; South Kirkland; Eastgate; South Renton; and Federal Way. Just show your
game ticket or ticket stub for a free ride on regular bus service or the special shuttles.

Check out Metro Online for all the details.

Beat the traffic to Sunday’s Seahawks game

The Seattle Seahawks have a home game Sunday against the Rams at 1 p.m. at Qwest Field. Why not use Metro to beat the traffic?

There will be special shuttles to Qwest Field from the following park-and-ride lots: Northgate, South Kirkland, Eastgate, Kent/James Street, and Federal Way/South 320th Street. The fare is $3 each way. Or, check the Trip Planner to see if there is regular bus service to the stadium from your starting
location.

See Metro Online for details on service to Sunday’s game.
