Help plan future transit service
for Eastside and South King County

King County Metro Transit is looking for people to share and review ideas on how to improve future transit service for the Eastside and South King County.

Metro is currently forming two citizen sounding boards comprised of transit riders and community members. The members will help Metro planners review public comments received during the public outreach process, provide feedback from a community perspective, and assist in developing recommendations that could be implemented in the future when resources become available.

The first group will focus on potential changes to bus service in the Eastside communities of Kirkland, Redmond, Bothell, Woodinville and Duvall. Special consideration will be given to riders of Metro routes 220, 222, 225, 229, 230, 232, 233, 234, 237, 243, 245, 249, 250, 251, 253, 254, 256, 257, 260, 261, 265, 266, 311, 922, 926, and Sound Transit 540 and 545.

The other group will focus on potential changes to bus service at the Auburn and Kent Sounder stations in South King County, including connections to Auburn, Kent, Covington, Enumclaw, Algona, Pacific, and Sea-Tac Airport. Consideration will be given to riders of Metro routes 150, 151, 152, 153, 154, 158, 159, 162, 164, 166, 167, 168, 169, 181, 183, 185, 186, 912, 914, 915, 916, 917, and 918.

The sounding boards will begin meeting in mid-October, and hold eight meetings over the following five months. Sounding board members are also expected to attend some public meetings held in local communities.

Anyone who lives, works or uses transit in the two study areas is eligible to submit an application to serve on the sounding boards. The application deadline is Friday, Sept. 30. The applications are available online for both the Eastside and South King County boards.
