General Community Sites

We Can!™ launched in June 2005, and since that time, hundreds of organizations have joined the We Can! movement as General Community Sites. These sites include YMCAs, schools, hospitals, parks and recreation departments, universities, private companies, and many other organizations.

When you sign up to become a We Can! General Community Site, NIH provides you with a complimentary starter kit of We Can! materials designed to get your programming started. NIH also provides General Community Sites with these great benefits:

    • National recognition from the National Institutes of Health on the We Can! Web site
    • Access to a variety of science-based resources that strengthen programming
    • Participation in a dynamic network of community sites and partners
    • Program support through technical assistance, conference calls, listservs, and e-newsletters
    • Access to success stories and lessons learned from other community sites to help sustain programming

In exchange, NIH asks General Community Sites to implement ANY TWO of the following three activities in one year:

    • Implement one We Can! youth program/curriculum
    • Implement one We Can! parent program/curriculum
    • Host one We Can! community outreach event

Upon completion of these activities, NIH asks each General Community Site to use the online We Can! Activity Forms to provide brief feedback about each curriculum implementation and community event. NIH uses this information to improve the We Can! program and help other community sites sustain their programs.

Sign up today to become a We Can! General Community Site and receive your complimentary starter kit of We Can! materials.
