Summer Fire Safety

Every year kids look forward to summer vacations, camping, picnics, and the Fourth of July. But summertime also brings fires and injuries when grills, campfires and fireworks are used the wrong way. Follow these tips to stay fire-safe this summer:

  1. Don't stand too close to a grill or campfire. You could get burned or your clothes could catch on fire.
  2. Remember to Stop, Drop and Roll if your clothes do catch on fire.
  3. Never touch matches or lighters. If you see matches or lighters, tell an adult right away.
  4. Remind adults to keep campfires small and to build them where they will not spread, away from dry grass and leaves. Also, adults should keep plenty of water around to put the campfire out.
  5. Never play with or light fireworks!
