Willard Bertrand, D.C.

 

Willard Bertrand is a chiropractic physician currently practicing in La Grande. Dr. Bertrand graduated from Creighton University in Omaha and received his doctor's degree chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minneapolis. He is a board certified nutritionist, diplomat of the American Board of Clinical Nutrition, fellow of the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

allan chino

Allan F. Chino, Ph.D., ABPP

 

Allan F. Chino, Ph.D. is a board-certified clinical health psychologist in private practice in the Portland area. He is a clinical assistant professor in at Oregon Health & Science University, past president of the American Academy of Clinical Health Psychology, past director of the Oregon Psychological Association, and has served on the Oregon Pain Management Commission since its inception. He has developed two and directed three accredited pain management centers in northern California and Oregon and conducted bio-behavioral research on chronic pain and fibromyalgia syndrome. As an author and speaker, he is an outspoken advocate for people with chronic pain and other chronic medical conditions. In addition to his health care activities, Dr. Chino is a video and music producer, musician, and composer.

Timothy Eng, L. Ac.

 

 

Timothy Eng is a licensed acupuncturist, a certified qigong instructor, and board-certified Chinese herbalist (NCCAOM). In his previous career, he was a biomechanics researcher in both an athletic (at Nike) and ergonomic setting. He also volunteers as the secretary to the Wu Dao Jing She International Qigong Society Board of Directors.

Stephen Eracker, M.D.

Stephen Eraker, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.P.

 

Dr. Stephen Eraker is a licensed physician in Oregon, California and Washington. He is board certified in internal medicine and also specializes in medical pain management. Dr. Eraker is a member of the Pain Society of Oregon, American College of Physicians, American Pain Society and the American Academy of Pain Medicine. Dr. Eraker is currently practicing internal medicine at the VA clinic in Bend.

Namita Gandhi, M.S., M.B.A., M.A.

 

Namita Gandhi is a clinical exercise physiologist and founder of the Integrative Movement Clinic, Inc., in Albany, Ore. Her practice specializes in movement and exercise therapy for chronic pain management. She is a published researcher and developer of an exercise program which is presented at seminars for patients and medical professionals. Recipient of an outstanding student research award from the Northwest chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine, she is a member of the Pain Society of Oregon, Arthritis Action Plan Coalition, National Fibromyalgia Association and other professional organizations.

shelley gunther

Shelley Gunther, RN, MSN, CNS, CHPN

 

 

Shelley Gunther has been a nurse for 26 years, primarily working in oncology and end-of-life care settings. She received her master’s degree as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology from the University of California, San Francisco, in 1990. She is currently the CNS/Clinical Educator for Willamette Valley Hospice in Salem, where her roles include staff development, overseeing orientation for all staff, consultant for pain and symptom management, and infection control nurse. She is certified as a hospice and palliative care nurse.

kathy hahn

Kathryn Hahn, Pharm. D.

 

Kathy Hahn is the pharmacy manager and pain management specialist at Bi-Mart Pharmacy in Springfield, Oregon. She is Chairwoman of the Oregon Pain Management Commission, past president of the Oregon Pain Society, and an adjunct faculty member at Oregon State University College of Pharmacy. Previously, she was a clinical oncology pharmacy specialist at Inter-Community Medical Center in Covina, Calif. An active lecturer on pain management, Dr. Hahn works with the American Pharmacists Association on advisory boards devoted to pain care issues and has published numerous articles and APhA Special Reports, including Medication Therapy Management Services: Applying the Principles to Optimize Care of patients with Pain and Pharmacists’ Responsibilities in Managing Opioids: 2005 Update.

David Jones, P.A., C.

David Jones, physician assistant, is a 1976 graduate of Medex Northwest, two-time past-president of the Oregon Society of Physician Assistants, and has served for many years as the OSPA representative on Oregon Rural Health Coordinating Council. He has been in practice in an Oregon rural health clinic for more than 25 years. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors, hunting and working with stained glass.

Teresa Keane, R.N., N.P.

 

 

Teresa Keane is a registered nurse and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who has been working in the field of pain management for more than 10 years. She is a faculty member at Oregon Health & Science University in the medicine and nursing departments. She joined the Pain Management Commission in 2006.

daniel kennedy
Daniel Kennedy, R.Ph., FAPhA

Dan Kennedy is the pharmacy manager at Providence Plaza Pharmacy in Portland. He graduated with honors from Oregon State University in 1993 and is an affiliate faculty member with the College of Pharmacy. He is vice-chairman of the Oregon Health Resources Commission, a past president of the Oregon State Pharmacists Association and has chaired the association's legislative committee and the Statewide Pharmacy Coalition. He was honored as Pharmacist of the Year in 1998-1999.

On a national level, Dan was an officer of the American Pharmacists Association from 1998 to 2004 and was recognized as a fellow in 2005. He is currently the Region 7 Governor of the APhA -PAC Board and is chairman of the 2006-2007 policy committee.

Peter Kosek, M.D.

 

Peter Kosek, MD is a licensed physician in both California and Oregon. Dr. Kosek graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa and received his MD from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine. A Board Certified Anesthesiologist, Dr. Kosek has a pain management practice located in Eugene, Oregon and also is a member of the Sacred Heart General Hospital Pain Task Force. Dr. Kosek is a member of the International Neuro-Modulation Society, American Academy of Pain Management, American Society of Anesthesiologists, and serves as a Board member of the Oregon Chapter of American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and Pain Society of Oregon. Dr. Kosek is one of the original members of the Oregon Pain Management Commission.

Rick Marinelli

Rick Marinelli, N.D.

Rick Marinelli of Portland is a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist specializing in the treatment of pain, degeneration and dysfunction. He is a graduate of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and serves on the faculty of both institutions. He has lectured to national audiences on the topic of naturopathic pain medicine, herbal and nutritional medicine, orthopedic medicine, and regenerative medicine techniques. He is presently Chairman of the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Examiners and President-Elect of the American Academy of Pain Management.

laurie monnes anderson

Sen. Laurie Monnes Anderson

 

State Sen. Laurie Monnes Anderson represents District 25 (parts of Multnomah County) in the Oregon Senate. A public health nurse and manager, she is also a member of the Oregon Child Care Commission. She previously was State Representative for District 50, 2001-2004, and has served on the Gresham-Barlow school board, Oregon School Boards Association Board of Directors, Oregon Women's Health and Wellness Alliance, Healthy Kids Learn Better Coalition, and other committees and councils. In 2005, she was on the Human Services budget subcommittee, Human Resources committee, and chaired the Health Policy Committee. In the 2005-06 interim, she chairs the Senate Interim Committee on Children's Health Care, among other assignments.

dennis richardson

Rep. Dennis Richardson

 

Oregon State Rep. Dennis Richardson of Central Point is a longtime resident of the Rogue Valley, where he lives and practices law. A veteran of U.S. Army service in Vietnam, he was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2002. He has served on the House committees on Environment and Land Use, Trade and Economic Development, and PERS, and currently is chairman of the Ways and Means Committee's Subcommittee on Human Services. During the 2005-07 interim, he chairs the Interim Task Force on DHS Review and the Emergency Board human services subcommittee, and is Speaker Pro Tempore.

harry rinehart

Harry Rinehart, M.D.

 

Dr. Harry Rinehart is a family physician and geriatrician practicing in Nehalem on the northern Oregon coast. He retired as a lieutenant colonel following a 22-year career in the U.S. Army, Reserves and National Guard. He currently is medical director for The Rinehart Clinic, a private non-profit corporation and federally designated Rural Health Clinic. Dr. Rinehart is primarily interested in the treatment of chronic non-malignant pain management and serves many under- and uninsured patients in his rural community. In addition to serving on the Pain Management Commission, Dr. Rinehart is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, National Rural Heath Association, National Association of Family Physicians, Oregon Rural Health Association, Oregon Medical Association and the Oregon Pain Society.

elaine smith

Elaine Laynie Smith, M.N., R.N.

 

Laynie Smith is a program, clinical and team supervisor at the Marion County Health Department, where she has worked for 17 years. A graduate of the University of Oregon Nursing School (now OHSU), she also received a master’s in nursing from Oregon Health and Science University, and has over 30 years of experience as a registered nurse. She has worked in home health, family planning, prenatal, breast and cervical cancer, sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis and refugee programs, in private and public sectors.

Christy Vail

 

Christy Vail is the Executive Director of the Economic Development Council of Tillamook County and public representative on the Oregon Pain Management Commission.  Christy has undergone six major hip surgeries related to an injury sustained at age 18 while serving in the Marine Corps. She has experienced healthcare in military, veteran and civilian healthcare systems, and has tried nearly every form of pain management available to date.  Her history has also brought her face-to-face with a variety of attitudes, beliefs and stereotypes about chronic pain.  Christy hopes that her experiences can help provide the patient’s perspective to the work of the OPMC.

tom watson

Tom Watson, P.T.

 

Tom Watson P.T., D.P.T., M.Ed., D.A.A.P.M., has 33 years of experience in orthopedic physical therapy, including TMJ and low back pain and 26 years in pain management, including fibromyalgia, chronic headaches and neuropathies. Watson received a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Oklahoma University in 1973, and a doctorate in physical therapy from the Ola Grimsby Institute in 2004. He is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management and serves on their Board of Directors and Board of Advisors. Watson lectures nationally and is published in numerous professional journals and magazines. He wrote chapter 19 on "Physical Therapy and Pain Management" in the seventh edition of the textbook Weiner's Pain Management (2005).
