Inside Transportation for August 2004

Inside Transportation is a half-hour program designed to help you understand how the King County Department of Transportation serves the public and how to take advantage of the transportation options available to you.  It is a presentation of the King County Department of Transportation Public Affairs Unit. "Inside Transportation" airs on King County Civic Television (CTV) Tuesday nights at 5 p.m., Wednesday mornings at 5 a.m., and various other times during the week.
 

Photo:  KCIA Runway 13R Fly quiet – King County International Airport is teaching pilots how to fly more quietly. The new program includes using approaches and departures that take planes over water rather than residential neighborhoods whenever possible, and monitoring noise levels to determine where the trouble spots are.

Modern roundabout It’s a first for King County. A traffic-controlling device that doesn’t use signals, yet keeps traffic flowing and provides a safer way for pedestrians to cross the street.

Photo:  Family boarding bus Public Safety Partnership – What started off as a casual conversation between drivers and riders has evolved into a ten-year campaign that has improved communication and led to several Metro Transit security and safety policies.

  • Comcast Cable Services — Channel 22 in most areas of King County
  • Millennium Digital Media — Channel 72 or 80 in downtown Seattle and lower Queen Anne.
