This CD is a compendium of more than 150
documents related to human research protections, including all relevant
federal regulations and guidance, VA policies, statements of ethical principles,
and accreditation standards. All documents are
completely cross-linked using hyperlinks. Citations of regulations or
guidance are linked to the source -- clicking the hyperlink calls up the section
of the rule or guidance being cited. The regulations most frequently cited
for human research protections have been completely indexed, with a detailed,
hyperlinked table of contents at the top of each document. Documents on this disk will appear in your
internet browser. Hyperlinks which appear as blue or green text do not
require internet access to complete the link. A few hyperlinks appear as
standard URL’s (e.g., http://www.va.gov/orca).
These refer to internet sites, for which you must be on line to successfully
complete the link. This CD offers an alternative to maintaining
extensive paper sources for reference
purposes. Future editions of
this CD will add comparable sources for laboratory animal welfare, research
biosafety, and research integrity. |
The Office of Research
Compliance and Assurance (ORCA) serves as the primary Veterans Health
Administration (VHA) component in advising the Under Secretary for Health on
all matters affecting the integrity of research in the protection of human
subjects and the welfare of laboratory animals, promoting enhancements in the
ethical conduct of research in conformance with regulations and policies and
investigating any allegations of research improprieties and scientific misconduct. |
