COMMENTS FROM EXPERTS ON SLEEP; CAMPAIGN PARTNERS,
PARENTS AND KIDS TRANSCRIPT

Sleep problems affect about 70 million Americans of every age, race, and socioeconomic level. In children, symptoms related to sleep deprivation are often overlooked or erroneously attributed to hyperactivity or behavior disorders. With the help of Garfield the Cat, the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health is launching Sleep Well. Do Well. Star Sleeper Campaign, a 5-year national initiative to educate America's children – their parents, educators, and healthcare providers – about the importance of obtaining adequate nighttime sleep. Dr. Carl Hunt is the Director of the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research.

"When children don't get as much sleep as they need then they don't perform as well, they don't behave as well, and they're not as safe."
