Policy Programs

USAID works with developing nations to achieve policies and plans that promote and sustain access to high-quality family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) services. USAID helps developing country professionals manage censuses, conduct surveys, and carry out policy analyses, strategic planning, and program evaluation both to promote policy dialogue and to improve access to family planning services. Through collection and analyses of family planning and other reproductive health information, USAID works to:
  • broaden and strengthen political and popular support for FP/RH
  • improve planning and financing for FP/RH
  • ensure that accurate, up-to-date, and relevant information informs policy decisions
  • enhance in-country and regional capacity to provide policy training
This work is carried out in a number of areas including advocacy at both the grassroots and grasstops level; policy formulation; research; and capacity building. USAID works with national and local governments, nongovernmental organizations, women's groups, religious groups, grassroots organizations and professional associations, commercial organizations, and research institutions.
