The Commission has approved staff’s recommendation to revise the guidance for handling security-related allegation closure correspondence. The staff should make the guidance public and actively seek to inform external stakeholders of the agency’s intent, when appropriate, to provide allegers with additional details regarding the handling of their security-related concerns. After gaining sufficient experience with the new guidance, the staff should consider whether the guidance could be expanded such that under appropriate circumstances, offers of additional discussions will be made to individuals raising Category II and Category III concerns who are not members of the security force.
