Overview: |
Build on your basic understanding of the Pinyin tonal system and tonal changes to express possession, ask questions, write basic Chinese characters and use adverbs correctly. Use numbers to express dates and time and to read, write, pronounce and understand adverbs and prepositional phrases. ACE College Credit Recommendation Service reviewed. |

Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to read short passages in characters; and hold basic conversations.
Instruction
Major topics covered in the course include
- complex expressions,
- tag questions
- modal particles,
- meeting someone for the first time,
- talking about one's major, possession, family, occupation, university,
- numbers 1-100,
- extending good wishes,
- making an appointment,
- asking about age and birth place,
- celebrating a birthday,
- date, time and days of the week.
Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, presentations, tests and final examination.
