Family Care Book

Different communities develop resources that are unique to their communities, based on available resources and the population served. After determining that you and your family need to have a break from your caregiving situation, considering what your and your family’s needs and preferences are, contact your local community Lifespan Respite program to go through an intake process. Your local Lifespan Respite coordinator can help you:

  • coordinate necessary services;
  • find respite care providers that best match your needs;
  • provide respite related information and referrals;
  • and explore payment options for respite services.

Families typically pay for respite care through a combination of funds and resources including: personal funds; stipends from a respite program through federal, state or local public funds; private and volunteer resources; and exchange of care among families or caregivers.

Directories

These directories are lists of respite providers, training opportunities, and other valuable resources pertaining to caregiving in your county. Each directory is created and maintained by a different organization for a specific population. Your local Lifespan Respite coordinator can assess your situation and help you decide which directory is the most appropriate for your needs.
