AED is known for its leadership in youth development, pioneering an approach that focuses on young people as assets, not problems to be fixed. AED programs throughout the United States promote positive school-to-career transitions, involve teens in mapping communities to determine gaps in resources for youth, strengthen youth worker training, and promote more and better opportunities for youth with disabilities to get the skills they need to successfully transition to adulthood.

AED has engaged youth from the Dominican Republic to the Republic of Georgia to South Africa in programs ranging from HIV/AIDS prevention to conflict resolution to community mapping. Building on our social marketing, behavior change and training expertise, our work with young people empowers them to become active change agents who can see the results of their efforts and become invested in positive social change.
