Can't Sing :60 Radio PSA Transcript

Script (:60):

A full country music band starts playing. The song builds for a second or two to where the singer should start.

Male Singer:

Here’s a song that means a lot to me. I hope you enjoy it. Well I remember…

The singer takes a breath to start singing, then is overcome with coughing. The music continues.

Male Singer:

(After a few seconds of coughing, he talks over the music.) Sorry about that. (cough, cough) Let me catch my breath for a second…

Background singers come in as if everything is fine.

Oooh ooooh ooooh oooooooooooh.

Male Singer:

(cough) Whoa, hold on there….

Announcer:

If you have a chronic cough, wheezing, emphysema or other trouble breathing, you might actually have something more. COPD. It’s the number 4 cause of death in America. Few people have heard of it, including those who actually have it.

Male Singer:

(Wheezes out the words.) Take it away, Jim….

Fiddle solo starts.

Announcer:

COPD can be treated. A simple breathing test can help you find out if you have it. So talk to your doctor about COPD. Get the test. Start getting the right treatment.

Song ends.

Male Singer:

Thank you… (cough cough) …very much.
