Wright State

Notes: Wright State has an extensive system of tunnels connecting almost all buildings on campus, eliminating the need for travel outside in bad weather conditions. All of the many doors on our tour were automatic, usually operated by a push button. Ramps
were integrated throughout the buildings. One especially appreciated service is the "PA Station" in the Student Union-- a bathroom for wheelchair users which is equipped with special transfer lifts. The PA Station is staffed with trained attendants and open for use throughout class hours on weekdays. Programs prepare students for independent life, both on campus and out in the world, by assisting in arranging for personal assistants and by requiring a credit course entitled "Managing Your Personal Assistants." A detailed handbook, "Meeting Your Personal Assistance Needs Effectively," is available from the Office of Disability Services. A level, modern and surprisingly compact campus near new, accessible shopping/entertainment developments with excellent public transportation available.

Notes: This campus is in a small town near Lake Erie. Door-to-door wheelchair van service is provided on campus and to shopping and businesses within the township of Edinboro. A detailed comprehensive menu of services for wheelchair users is available on the website, including extensive 24/7 personal assistant services and an on-site wheelchair maintenance/repair program. Fabulous support services and welcoming community allow students to concentrate on studies.
