WHAT:The Advisory Committee on Blood Safety and Availability of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will hold its first meeting on Thursday and Friday, April 24 and 25, 1997. The principal subject of discussion will be Hepatitis C and Blood Transfusion and whether the Committee should recommend a Hepatitis C "lookback" to identify people who previously received blood from donors who now test positive for Hepatitis C.

WHEN:The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, and the Hepatitis C discussion is scheduled to begin at 11:20 a.m. that morning. The Committee is scheduled to vote on its recommendations on Friday morning, at 10:00 a.m.
